Technology and Entrepreneurship Training for 100,000 Women from Aygaz
The Impact of W-Energy for Equality Is Growing

Aygaz, under the leadership of Koç Holding, has launched a pioneering initiative in the field of gender equality through its W-Energy for Equality project, with the goal of strengthening women's presence in the realms of technology and innovation.

Implemented in 2022, the project encompasses a series of structured programs including W-Energy for Technology, W-Energy for Innovation, W-Energy for Future,
W-Energy for Kids, and Yaşı Bile Olmaz (Age Doesn’t Even Matter). Through these initiatives, Aygaz has successfully achieved its target of reaching over 100,000 women. Participants engaged in a comprehensive and inspiring educational journey, gaining critical competencies in diverse areas—from entrepreneurship to artificial intelligence—thereby enhancing their capacity to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.

A Comprehensive and Inclusive Approach for Individuals Across All Age Groups

Aygaz’s vision for equality extended beyond women alone. Through the “W-Energy for Kids” project, technology-based education was provided to children, while the “Yaşı Bile Olmaz” initiative targeted adult individuals with inclusive learning opportunities. Moreover, Aygaz’s dedicated employee volunteers played an active role in the projects by offering mentorship support to participants.

The Expanding Impact of W-Energy for Equality Through Its Sub-Programs

Through the “W-Energy for Innovation” program, carried out in collaboration between Aygaz and Learneco, young women were offered both Basic and Advanced Level Entrepreneurship trainings. Participants who successfully completed the training process qualified to advance to the Hackathon stage.

In 2023, the program was honored with the “Gold Status Award” in the category of Supporting Women’s Participation in the Workforce by TEGEP, as well as the “Jury Special Award” at the competition organized by the Entrepreneurial Institutions Platform and Fast Company.

The program involved numerous partners; including associations, non-governmental organizations, technology centers, municipalities, student clubs, and career centers, as well as hundreds of students from various universities. Participants shared over 15,000 scientific contents tagged with Koç Holding and Aygaz on LinkedIn. Pre- and post-training evaluations revealed substantial improvements in young women’s engagement with STEM careers, enhanced awareness of the discipline, and strengthened capabilities in business idea development.

In collaboration with the Rahmi M. Koç Museum, the “W-Energy for Kids” program offered interactive educational sessions for children visiting the museum, centered around inventions by female inventors. This initiative aimed to overcome preconceived biases in children’s minds and reinforce the perception that innovation is an integral part of everyday life.

The “W-Energy for Technology” program, organized in partnership with AI Business School, provided women with training in subjects such as Python, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Deep Learning, and Data Analysis. Through a Bootcamp format, participants enhanced their digital skills, gained networking opportunities both nationally and internationally, and earned certificates.

The “Yaşı Bile Olmaz” project, a comprehensive initiative with Aygaz employees serving as trainers, aimed to facilitate the integration of adult individuals into the digital world and improve their digital literacy levels. Civil society organizations, municipalities, and associations played key roles as partners in this project.

Since its inception, Aygaz has been committed to advancing Turkey’s sustainable development through initiatives that enhance social welfare. Moving forward, the company will continue to contribute to society by implementing similar projects and undertaking innovative efforts that promote gender equality.
